[Which is to say that he's not exactly okay, but he's focused on worrying about everyone else, Bellamy and Akira especially.]

[She just nods. She gets it? She's also better than most people. Well, she's better than everyone at everything, obviously, when she wants to be!! But she gets being better off than most.]

First Ruby, then Raven... I wonder if someone's just going to disappear every week like this...?

... I do not know. Frankly, I am not sure why it was Raven—she and Akira are close partners. There should be no reason for the Chiefs to break them apart.

[His voice is pained, as he's sick with worry. Someone had to be the calm one between him, Akira, and Bellamy, but the fact of the matter is that Raven is (was?) one of his closest friends here.]

If it was the Chiefs at all.

[She frowns. Something like that... She looks like she wants to continue, but Lief sounds pained, and even if Prussia is loud and obnoxious and generally an annoyance, she's not ~~America~~ completely oblivious.]

We done all we could for now. If we chase our tails about "why" for something we don't have a hope of understanding right now, we're gonna just make ourselves sick and get nowhere.

[She reaches out and lightly pokes Lief's cheek.]

Chin up, kid. You and me, we'll figure it out. We'll win this game together.

... Indeed, though I have no doubt it will come up at the trial.

[If Raven doesn't turn up before then. If he's still alive by that day.

When Prussia pokes his cheek, he blinks, before he manages a weak smile.]

I truly hope for that, Prussia.

It will. If we all put our heads together and stay focused, maybe we'll even learn something together at the farce of a trial we gotta have.

[She smiles at his smile, weak as it is. That's all she was looking for, and she sits back with a satisfied nod.]

Tonight, it okay if I bring Erhard around? He's a good kid, quiet, probably won't cause much of a fuss. His partner, too, unless she has somewhere else she wants to go.

[He nods.]

I do not know Erhard well, but we got along when we did talk.

I don't know anything about Kyouko except what we talked about the other day... I haven't gotten to talk to her much, either. It'll be good to get that chance.

Erhard's great! He's a doctor, he's really smart, even if he can't remember a lot of things that happened in the past. He's one of my-- one of West's awesome citizens, too. But he's quiet and shy like a little bird. I think getting to spend some time with more people when we're not all yelling at each other is gonna be good for him, ja?

'Sides...

Can't lose him and Newt at once. Can't do it, won't do it! Not when I can at least try to keep him safe with me.

[He's quiet for a moment, as he prays that the Sirens don't go after him or Kyouko this week. Prussia doesn't deserve to suffer like that for a third week in a row.]

I understand. [He smiles wryly.] It will be a tight fit in here, but comfort for the night is a small sacrifice if it keeps him alive.

Hah, yeah... you guys aren't as snuggly as--

[Hm. Nope, she's going to make herself sad if she continues in that vein.]

Well, anyway!! [She claps her hands briskly.] Now that's settled, I got more new info from the Chiefs. And presents, too. Most important bit is two things, though.

[She holds up one finger to count them off as usual.]

Eins! Hal won't write shit down in front of me. Tried to do the handwriting thing like you asked, but apparently it's in his programming that he won't let a player see him write anything down. Said he'd update my rulebook, but I wasn't allowed to watch him write. So I think you're onto something with the handwriting thing we were talking about the other day.

Zwei! Hal said somethin' real weird to me. Made a point of specifically asking if I was gonna use my role to break apart a partnership of somebody I thought was a Siren. Like he expected me to use it to kill people I suspected without risking their partner. He seemed kinda surprised when I told him I wasn't gonna do that 'cause I didn't know which side was the good guys.

Like... he thought it was funny that I'd be thinking of taking a side at all, since my role's supposed to be a neutral one. And I told him, I said if you wanted a neutral country, you should've picked Switzerland, 'cause I don't do neutral!! On anything!! And the way he said "I know!" was like... like that was the point of picking me. That I'm not a neutral person for a neutral role. So I think we're onto somethin', that it's people who wouldn't be suited for this shit who've been given roles.

Oh, and drei! Asked Hal about getting soap for all of us and booze for me. He said he'd give me, "personally," five bars of soap -- I put those in the outhouse, by the way, might wanna go shower quick before anybody else realizes they're there and uses 'em all up -- and a crate of Meschkinnes. Real nice German liquor, we drank it in Königsberg all the time. Hid that in Jack's hut, 'cause Newt gave me his key before... yeah. And anyone will assume it was just Jack's, and that's where I got it.

[... Soap is nice, he supposes.]

That is good to know. [...] If I may ask, whose partnership did you break this week?

Magilou and Lucina. Just in case. Didn't know about Raven, or I'd've...

Think even if I tried to do anything with the robots for Raven, they wouldn't let me. It has to be me figuring shit out before things happen.

... If she is still missing by next week and Akira is alive, then perhaps you could reassign him and Zuko together?

[As much as he doesn't want to think about that.]

Speaking of Magilou, though... [He pauses, as this is a bit awkward.] ... Would you allow me to tell her about your role? Not that you have it—I will not reveal your identity—but that I am acquainted with it and its rules.

She is clever. Perhaps she can think of ways to use your role to end the game that we cannot. However, if you will not permit it, then of course I will say nothing, as I have always done.

That's the plan. When I reassign people, can only have a partnership of two. So if I assigned Zuko to Katara as planned, that leaves Inuyasha partnerless. Couldn't risk it, not when the Sirens know Zuko's got no partner.

[She hesitates and presses her lips together. She really doesn't trust Magilou, lack of a role or not. But in the interest of trying to move forward...]

Ja. Anybody you trust, I'll trust, kid. We're in this together, after all. I already told Bellamy... Newt knew, too. That was it. Maybe... if we work together, we can use this bullshit "neutral" role to mean something good in the end.

[He knows Magilou seems extremely suspicious, and he won't try and argue that. It's... hard to explain. Just that what he's seen of her in private has painted her in a better light.

But, also—]

... When did you tell Bellamy?

[It's not alarming to hear (maybe), but it's a bit awkward.]

Uhh... Sunday. He'd been checked by Vessalius, and me and him usually disagree, so I thought if he knew about it, he'd be able to give us some more ideas.

I have been feigning a lack of knowledge—and have blatantly lied in regards to knowing nothing about the role that "reassigns partners"—to him, even when I knew he desired more information.

... I fear that, if he knows I have purposely withheld this from him, it may damage his faith in me. [...] But now that he is aware of your role, perhaps this is a conversation he and I need to have. Better to have me admit it than for him to hear it from another source.

You can just tell him it was because I told you not to say anything. He'd understand, I think. He's a good kid.

[Prussia's categories for trustworthiness? Good kid? Yes it's all fine.]

Or tell him I told you just this week, after tryin' to shoot the Chiefs. Or tell him the truth.

Anybody else I should know about? Wasn't planning on telling anyone else right now, but...

Your permission to tell Magilou and whom you chose this week are all that I wished to ask of you. I still do not think it wise to tell anyone else, unless you are assured of their trustworthiness.

[Even if the purpose of Prussia's role should align with what the Sirens hope to achieve, Lief isn't entirely assured.]
